Opening up the wound – when the grieving parent withdraws

24 December 2017.Reading time 4 minutes.

A bereaved parent can appear to be coping well until a challenging event such as Christmas arrives. When a bereaved friend appears to withdraw there is a very good reason and it’s all part of the new life with grief…

Hello!

I’m Kelly, a married mum of five who runs a business from home. My hands are full and my mind is fuller, so I write it out! I’ve been through some very difficult times, but I live in hope and faith.

I write about my grief as well as family life and my faith. I hope you’ll find something here that brings you comfort.
Kelly x

Just had to share this beautiful picture of 8-year-old Lucas reading The Dragonfly Story. His dad, Stuart, has been a long-time follower of my Facebook page since the terrible death of his two-year-old son, Thomas. He sent me this: 'Wow, your book, just read it to Lucas, it's so lovely, had me in tears.' 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 It's this that makes all the worry and work worth it. 💗 #thedragonflystory #author #childrensbooks #booksaboutgrief #illustration #pblogger #blogsaboutchildloss #dragonflies #heaven #hope #grief #mumof5

I saw a little necklace and bangle set and thought Naomi would love it... she was so chuffed #naomigrace #justlikemummy #nearlytwo

Childloss happens to anyone. I believe Barbara Bush would be glad that her own death has opened up the discussion about childloss. Those in the public eye can do great things by sharing their stories to help to break taboos such as death and grief. May she rest in peace with those loved ones who went before her 🕊 #barbarabush #childloss #talkaboutit #metoo #lossisuniversal
* Cover reveal * Life, Without You - a journal through grief. It is hard to show here but the design will be metallic silver so it will look really special! The dandelion? When the seeds of the dandelion are blown it is said to carry thoughts, affections and dreams to a loved one. It also symbolises gentle progression... a journey for both the dandelion and the seeds. What do you think? #coverreveal #lifewithoutyoujournal #grievingmother #journalling #illustration
I'm in the paper today. Our local newspaper prints weekly now so I was surprised to have an entire page! It's a good article that focuses on the book, which I'm pleased about! So weird seeing yourself in the media but I hope people see this who would find the book useful. 📰 #thedragonflystory #booksaboutgrief #childrensbooks #hope #Gloucestershire #cheltenham #gloucestershireecho
I am a hot weather grump, but it's lovely that Jake and Naomi can spend time with the small animals at riding today instead of dashing to the car in the rain!
Love this girl's chops 😍

If you've got a copy of my book and are on Amazon would you be fab and spare a few minutes to leave a review? You can do it from the book listing. Amazon puts books higher up the list if they have reviews, so it just helps it to be seen by people looking for children's books about bereavement (😢). Thank you x 📙 #bookreview #thedragonflystory #childrensbooks #booksaboutgrief
